    Nearby surf breaksPotrero Grande
    FoodYou must bring food, water and camping equiptment.
    TipsWhen the swell has a very w-nw direction there is a perfect beach break located approximately two miles north of the estuary’s mouth.
    WarningsDon't leave your car far from the camping area. It is much safer to camp in the Argelia camping area.

  • Playa Grande

    General description     Beaches breaks. It is a good place when the surfing is small in the area.
    WavesGood for everybody. It tends to close-out when there is a swell higher than six feet face.
    Where to surfThe whole beach has various beach breaks.

    Best tideMid-tide
    Nearby surf breaksPlaya Tamarindo, Playa Langosta, Playa Avellanas and Playa Negra.

  • Playa Tamarindo

    General description     Beach break and rocky points
    WavesAll types
    Where to surfAt the estuary’s mouth and another point is to the right of the rock in front of Hotel Dolly as well as at the Asapo (south point of the beach).

    Best tide Mid-tide
    Nearby surf breaksPlaya Langosta and Playa Avellanas
    FoodThere are many resturants of all types and prices, as well as some small supermarkets.
    LodgingThere are a great variety of places that offer lodging of all price ranges.
    TipsTamarindo is a good place as a central point to reach other surfing areas. Also, from here you can rent boat transport to Witches’ Rock and Oliver’s Point.
    WarningsDon't leave things in your car or on the beach, as there are many thieves in the area.

  • Playa Langosta

    General description     Point breaks
    WavesGood for everybody
    Where to surfThe best spot for surfing is to the right of estuary’s mouth. When the waves are small you can surf at the estuary’s mouth.

    Best tideMid-tide
    Nearby surf breaksPlaya Avellanas and Playa Negra
    FoodIn Playa Tamarindo (next beach). Bring water with you.
    LodgingA variety of hotels in the area
    TipsFew surfers. It is not very crowded
    WarningsBeware of rocks in this area. Don't leave things in your car

  • Playa Avellanas

    General description     River mouth, point breaks and beach breaks
    WavesGood for everybody
    Where to surfThe best spot is at the estuary’s mouth. There is another point to the north of the estuary (Little Hawaii) which breaks at low tide. Both spots break when there is a swell. During small waves you can surf the beach breaks.
